Staxx (Wythenshawe)

THE STAXX, THE CIVIC CENTRE, WYNTHENSHAWE, MANCHESTER 22
 
 
Staxx was in The Civic Centre, Wythenshawe, Manchester 22, over the Mercury Supermarket.
 
D.J. Simon Jeffrey (b. 1950) played on the opening night and the head doorman from day one was John Capello.
 
This club had nothing to do with Soul Club The Soul Staxx which was at 64 Fountain Street off Market Street, Manchester 2 and opened in Late 1966.

Staxx was a brilliant place to go to dance the night away. No alcohol. You got a ticket for a soft drink. It was all about the dance back then and learning how to do it!! Those were the best days ever.

i can remember the night staxx disco opened, waiting on the stairs to get in,me and my friend amanda pearson we were both 15 years old,we had a fantastic time i asked the dj to play i cant help myself by the four tops, not only did he play it but told everybody in the club that a good looking girl by the name of susan had asked for this record,this must be some 50 years ago and i can remember this as it was yesterday

hi. my name is john capello i was the head doorman at staxx disco wythenshawe.i was there from day one and ihave no idea who this mike taylor is but i can assure everybody and i have contacted several ex employees including the owner of staxx mr harry flood, that the resident disc jockey and the disc jockey who was there from day one was simon jeffrey...
