Queens Hall (Widnes)
The Queens Hall was in Victoria Street, Widnes, Cheshire and opened on Wednesday, May 1, 1957.
The Queens Hall had been The Wesleyan Methodist Chapel which had opened in 1864.
Widnes band The Cheetahs starting playing here from September 1961 for the Scout Gang Show and started out as an instrumental group.
The Beatles appeared here a total of five times, starting on Monday, September 3, 1962. On Tuesday, October 22, 1962 the fourth time they played here, they even signed autographs to The Cheetahs drummer Dave Preece (b. 1946) and were supported by Liverpool group Lee Curtis and the All-Stars. The fifth and last time The Beatles played here was on Monday, February 18, 1963.
The Monday shows were all promoted by Brian Epstein's company NEMS Enterprises. The Beatles headlined each one, but the support acts varied.
