Anyone who wanted to go to Associated Redifusion's tv  final of "Ready Steady Win" pop group competition to support the Toggery 5 had to  come along to the Cresta on Sunday to put your name down. 2 coaches the following Wednesday went down to the studios at Wembley.  The group came second and won a new van. That worked out just right.

The Comer Brothers John and Tony, appeared in the film 'I'm All Right Jack' with Peter Sellers and 'A Taste Of Honey'. John Comer went on to play the long suffering cafe owner Sid in Last Of The Summer Wine!
