The Mambo, Rochdale

The Mambo Club was above Burtons shop in the centre of Rochdale.

It was opened and owned by a then local councillor , called Jack (i think) Foy, but was run by his son.

As it was in competition with the bigger, Carlton Ballroom, its most popular night was a Sunday. The regular band was the Cruisers from Oldham ,and also had a guest band every Sun evening. Most of those coming from the Oldham , and Wigan , and Lancashire area.

This was of course pre, 1962
