Sands (Oldham)

One club we worked at in Oldham was the Sands Club - with Freddy Starr, the Nashville Teens, etc. Great club and a good atmosphere

.... and what a knocking shop too !! Suitably dimly lit Later became known as Dreamers..there was a really cheap Indian restaurant (the Paramount) near the entrance which closed at about 4 a.m.

Me and my brother were walking past Sands one night when this guy was booted out onto the street from there covered in blood - looked like he had been given a pretty bad pasting. We walked him to the nearest police station - told them what we knew and left him in their hands. Needless to say I didn't think much of the place and stories from others I had heard about the club did nothibng to change my impression - they only confirmed my low opinion in fact.
