We lived on the estate at handforth and we were too young to get in at the creole in wilmslow so decided to try our luck at the regal. It was ten bob to get in but that included a bus home, at the tender age of 15 we were only used to the youth club near handforth station or the weekly sergeant peppers in the old community centre. The place was amazing, you walked down a proper staircase and into the dance hall that had booths on either side, there was a mezzine floor that housed the band and also the resident dj, the bar was below and we clubbed together to Send the tallest lad to buy a watneys red barrell that we all shared.We had some great nights in there, laterly it was used for the farmers markets and before being knocked down to make way for the medical centre i went to a few northern soul revivals, it was magic to go back.
