Rays Place (Wilbraham Road, Fallowfield)

When I was a student in Manchester, it hosted student nights and to get a late licence, they served free burger and chips. I worked there cooking those dammed burger and chips !!!!, BIG L was the DJ and I'm sure many people on this amazing site will remember him.

I went a couple of times in the seventies. IIRC, it was 10p to get in which included sausage and beans! I don't think I had the burgers. It all looked a bit faded to me....

A big part of my first year or two in Manchester 69/70, Loyd the DJ. It wasn’t like a swish City centre club but the characters and atmosphere were great. I took my staff for a Christmas meal later in the 70’s when Rays place was dressed up as the interior of an aeroplane, Loyd was still DJ. Happy memories.  My staff were not impressed as I had been but for me it was a trip down memory lane.X
