The Midland (West Didsbury)

There was a whole mob of us living in Clyde Road/Lansdowne Road in the late sixties/early seventies. The Midland was our local.

The bands used to play upstairs but you could hear them through the floor. Unfortunately the only one I can remember was George Melly and his band, although I think that Maynard Ferguson and his Big Band played there on a regular basis, Melly certainly did.

In those days West Didsbury was a great place for us, all young, away from home, always broke, lots of parties and The Canadian Charcoal Pit for after the pub closed.
