The Oaks (Chorlton)

The Oaks pub in Chorlton was opposite Southern cemetery. Demolished in the 90’s.

The place was crowded in the early seventies they had a great disco the DJ was Johnny B Good - he was very funny but wouldn’t play requests as I recall.

Lots of people will remember this.

The Oaks was a very large pub with lots of rooms. It had a large mahogany bar serving Wilson’s beer as I recall a bit dreary decor.I use to go on a Monday with the boys we use to stand around listening to the music, sometimes we even had a dance. The Mersey Hotel and the Princesses club were down the road ,but for a Monday night it was great fun.
