Second attempt number Two; by courtesy of working email (long story). Fifty-five years since aforementioned retail outlook , pre-Bezzo's and Afflecks Palace, opened (October 1970). it begs the question; Is anybody else from that era still alive or am i the only survivor?

Both Ken Hensley and Lee Kerslake (Respectively keyboards and drums) of Uriah Heep died this year. Of the classic line-up, only Mick Box remains. I remember Gary Thain's dark blue Fender Precision sliding across the stage at the FTH gig. I would have given my right arm for that Fender, in which case it would have been of no use.

I was at Barton Square for 18 months for your information, El Zeno. I was ready to quit JM; only the new job kept me there. I need a new email address as I've had one or two issues in the past. Will communicate soon.

I should have remembered this in the previous communique. Next week marks the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Guys and Dolls store at 35 Oldham St, Manchester 4. Doesn't remotely seem fifty years since that chaotic opening day. I can't recall the exact date which was a Thursday, I think, around the 19th October. I could well be off the mark but there's no forgetting that first week. Singer Lulu performed the opening ceremony. I have no idea whether Afflecks (current occupiers of the site) will acknowledge this in some way; likely they won't. If any of the survivors (yes, even the school-leavers newly employed by JM at that time are 65 now) are reading this then perhaps you might contribute to the forum. The old one did become a bit overloaded. Take care, and for those early staff members no longer with us, we might spare a thought or two.
