I was pleased to see Dave Wolfenden mentioned with the Tony Manton set . I worked at British Aerospace with Dave in the mid 70s when he was guitarist with " Sweet Illusion ".

Dave was my mentor in those days and when we should have been working we were usually playing guitar somewhere on the shop floor.

As Dave's pupil I tagged on to most gigs and even got an EP nd a cassette which they recorded at Pennine studios in about 1975 .

I was a gear anorak then and remember that Dave played a gold Antoria Les Paul through a 40watt Carlsboro combo.

Later he had a Gibson 335 and a Fender Pro Reverb amp that shimmered when he did "Hava Nagila".

Sweet Illusion were resident at Moston Miners Club every Friday and on Saturday nights they did the dinner dance set at the Bower hotel on Hollinwood ave.
