The Playboys had a No 1 hit in France with a four-track EP on Barclay records where the ‘A’ track was ‘Woolly Bully’ coupled with two James Brown songs – ‘And I do Just What I Want’ & ‘Tell Me What You’re Gonna Do’, and ‘Lipstick Traces’.

There was also a ‘Manchester Playboys Show’ broadcast on Belgian radio in 15 minute weekly slots from a two-hour live performance in Ghent.  Anybody got a copy of the tape?

Saw and listened to the Manchester Playboys twice at the Manor Lounge when I was on leave from the Army boys service. People were very friendly when I asked who was on the show also a guy told me Donovan got boo'd off last week and saw Marianne Faithful coiling up her mic leads after her stint which we missed.

We wore suits back then haha. Fantastic drum solo followen mid-set by the Playboys when they came on. Second time I saw them and requested it the drummer said he had a bad back at that time.

Rum and Blacks before we went in. Great music for me and Tich (Dennis Parker) my squaddie chum.

Just come across this website and of course looked the Manchester Playboys up.  Lovely surprise.  When in my teens I followed them around when in M/c.  Even ran the fan club with a friend for a time.
