The Images (Eccles)

Line-Up

  • Chris Benson - lead
  • Dave Benson -
  • Roly Hadfield - bass (dec'd)
  • Brian Caldwell - drums

There was another good group from Eccles called The Images who I think still do a show at the The Queens Arm, Green Lane, Patricroft. They used to be resident at The Rainbow Rooms, Patricroft and then onto The Talk of the North till late. I myself used to stand in occasionally with them.

Roy Mozley - 28/8/11

Thanks Roy for plugging a group who were probably Eccles's first! I enjoyed a couple of stand-ins with them and found them to be very accomplished. ALL THE BEST TO EVERYONE.

Mozze the bass - 28/10/11

Did you know that it was me who first set up the live group nights at the Rainbow Skating Rink? What nights they were with less than accomplished skaters threatening to do your gear in, simply by taking the wrong way!

Mozze - 28/2/12

The Eccles images I remember used to play at various gigs.i remember they played regular weeks at the old ABC Broadway Cinema. now gone.it was across the road directly from NOW Wilko. previously Morrison's, Redmans Food Hall. They were managed by Arthur Robinson..he owned record music shop at side of the cinema..he also had another shop in Manchester near the Flat Iron..the band comprised at the time 1960's.guitars Steve Twigg. Ian Barnes.Keith Purcell Drums..and a guitarist called Paddy...my sister used to sing vocals for them occasionally. All were from Eccles....that Eccles store was still owned much after by A.R.as a do it yourself store"Hang'em n Bangem".we used to have a brilliant Liverpool band come to Eccles Youth Club.in the 60's a few times. The Teddy Bears..who brought an 8 foot woolly bear with them.those nights were magic.
